NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- In an online world saturated by struggling streaming music services, Internet radio site Pandora appears to be making all the right moves.

Last year, the 10-year old company recorded its first profitable quarter, doubled its subscription base to more than 40 million users and took in $50 million of revenue. The company also announced several new partnerships that allow users to take Pandora with them in the car and on the TV.

Pandora certainly seems to have found its sweet spot, making it a standout among other streaming services that have not been able to make it on their own. Social music site iMeem was scooped up by MySpace in December for just $1 million, and Apple (AAPL, Fortune 500) bought cloud-based music service Lala for not much more. Analysts say even mighty MySpace Music may be unable to sustain itself for much longer.

The company attributed its ability to rise through the rubble to its substantial user growth over the past year. With a rapidly increasing number of subscribers, Pandora has been able to attract better advertisers and demand higher ad prices.

But growth is a double-edged sword. As more users listen to Pandora, the company has found itself doling out more in royalties. Company founder Tim Westergren said Pandora has finally managed to strike just the right balance.

Nexus One now compatible with the AT&T 3G network and shipping to Canada

The Nexus One is unlocked, which means you can use it with a SIM card from most GSM operators worldwide. Currently the device is compatible with most 3G networks, including T-Mobile in the US. However, there are some carriers that have different 3G frequencies, such as AT&T in the US and Rogers Wireless in Canada, so users with these SIM cards can only access 2G or EDGE networks on their Nexus One.

Starting today, an additional version of the Nexus One is available from the Google web store that is compatible with AT&T’s 3G network. This new model can be purchased as an unlocked device without a service plan. In addition to AT&T’s 3G network, this device will also run on Rogers Wireless in Canada. And like the first version of the Nexus One, it can be used with most GSM operators globally.

Continuing Sprint's green leadership

Recently, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse announced that Sprint would be the first U.S. wireless carrier to establish a set of green design criteria for all future consumer devices that run on the Sprint network. The green design criteria and specifications support Sprint's product development vision, which is to provide devices and accessories for our customers that are:

-- Free of environmentally sensitive materials

-- Highly energy-efficient or even self-charging

-- Made of sustainable materials

-- Manufactured and packaged sustainably

-- Interoperable, using a micro-USB interface, and

-- Fully and easily recyclable

As an industry leader in the reuse and recycling of wireless devices, Sprint has an aggressive, industry-first goal of reaching a 90 percent phone collection rate for reuse/recycling compared with annual wireless device sales by 2017. Sprint's recently expanded Buyback program gives a financial incentive for current and new Sprint subscribers to trade in any eligible cell phone, regardless of manufacturer or carrier. Customers buying the LG Remarq receive a Sprint recycling envelope in every box, making it simple for them to recycle their old device and accessories responsibly.

Designed to boost U.S. wireless recycling rates, Sprint's Buyback program now offers an instant account credit to current and new Sprint subscribers who turn in up to three eligible wireless devices, per active line of service. Currently, more than 900 wireless devices are eligible for an instant account credit from Sprint. Device credits range in value from approximately $5 to more than $300, depending on the make and model of the device being turned in. To learn more about wireless recycling visit the Sprint wireless recycling Web site.

For just $49.99 per month, Sprint's affordable Everything Messaging 450 plan pairs nicely with LG Remarq to give unlimited text, picture messaging, unlimited night and weekend minutes starting at 7 p.m. and 450 anytime minutes (pricing excludes surcharges and taxes).

The Sprint Mobile Broadband Network (inclusive of data roaming) reaches more than 278 million people, 18,900 cities and 1,855 airports. The 3G Sprint Mobile Broadband Network (inclusive of data roaming) has more than twice the coverage of AT&T's current 3G network and more than 10 times the coverage of T-Mobile's current 3G network, both based on square miles(1).

LG ecoMobilization(SM)

LG Remarq joins the ranks of existing LG environmental initiatives and products that empower consumers to make eco-conscious choices including the company's ecoMobilization(SM) program and the HFB-500 Bluetooth solar powered charging car kit.

In 2009, the company launched the ecoMobilization(SM) program, which is dedicated to reducing the harmful effects of e-waste on the environment. LG ecoMobilization(SM) offers easy-to-use tools such as a zero-waste mobile phone recycling program that enables people to take a hands-on approach to making a positive environmental impact. For example, LG created TXT 2 Recycle(TM). Participants simply text the word ECO to 95173, reply to the text with their mailing address, and pre-paid packaging will be delivered to their doorstep. The program also provides a collaborative forum to share ideas, inform on environmental issues and cultivate innovative alternatives.

LG's mission is to provide ordinary people with the tools and know-how they need to help make an Earth-friendly change on a broad scale. Since 2008, the company has been a member of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Plug In To e-Cycling program that fosters and promotes opportunities for consumers to donate or safely recycle their used electronics. To date, LG Mobile Phones has recycled over 300,000 units of e-waste including accessories, batteries and handsets.

LG is committed to sustainability initiatives that inspire individuals to take action and make a difference. A shining example of this commitment is LG SkyCharger, the first mobile phone charging station powered solely by renewable energy in the U.S. To learn more about LG ecoMobilization(SM) consumers can visit www.ecoMobilize.com.

ReCellular, the Leader in Used Cellular Phones

Company overview

In 1991, my brother Allan and I recognized a trend - an increasing number of Americans were using cell phones, discarding them frequently, and creating tons of solid waste even though most of the used cellular phones were still functional. We saw the opportunity to start a new industry and help protect the environment. We founded ReCellular, Inc. to refurbish, reuse and responsibly recycle discarded cell phones. Today, our firm based in Dexter, Michigan is the world's largest recycler and reseller of used cellular phones and accessories. ReCellular partnered with the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association's (CTIA) Wireless Foundation on the original Donate a Phone charitable recycling program, and has since developed long-standing relationships with key industry players such as Verizon Wireless, Motorola, Sprint and Best Buy (to name a few). Eco Wireless will send your recycled phones to Recellular as well.

ReCellular's comprehensive commitment to environmental protection has won numerous national and local awards. All phones and accessories that cannot be reused are recycled; the company recycles thousands of tons of electronic scrap every year. With millions of dollars donated to charities, tens of millions of phones recycled or reused and customers in more than 40 countries, ReCellular has developed a global network dedicated to finding the most responsible solutions for the handset industry.

ReCellular is the global leader in the used cellular phones industry because of our commitment to finding the best solutions for our wireless partners. Innovations in personal information protection, recycling programs and used handset market development will continue to fuel growth in the years to come.
